Romance and Biofeedback
Human cultures move through different cycles of growth and development, where there are some cycles focused on material expression and collection, and some based on focusing the inner journey. There are many positive rewards that come from working with consciousness exploration techniques such as visualization, meditation, and biofeedback . Recent developments seem to suggest that human cultures are entering into one of the periods of great exploration of inner space. While these techniques are showing very optimistic findings in terms of helping people maintain lower stress levels, and healthier lives in general, there might be a little bit of love magic in the picture as well.
Work by anthropologists like Helen Fisher , who focus their research on how human beings love is revealing some fascinating findings. Most people understand that love is a biological function, but that it also originates in the mind. It’s possible, then, that one could conceivably create the physical chemistry in the body that reproduces the feeling of actually being in love. Some tests in biofeedback where partners focus on the heartbeat simultaneously are demonstrating that this kind of physiological syncing up produces a greater awareness of love, and this in itself is capable of producing the emotion in a more profound way. Two hearts can beat as one.
It’s Not Easy to Make it to the US Women’s Finals and Then Win the Championship
The number of women who have multiple wins at the US Open tennis championship is relatively few; proving that it is a very difficult accomplishment to make it to the final of a major tournament and then win the tournament.
Martina Hingis , who made it to three US Open Finals, won in 1997 by defeating Venus Williams. Hana Mandlikova, who also made it to three US Open Finals, only won in 1985 by defeating Martina Navratilova 7-6,1-6, and 7-6. Kim Clijster of Belgium is currently the reigning US Open Champion. She has been in three US Open Finals and has two wins; in 2005, Kim defeated Mary Pierce and in 2009 she defeated Dane Caroline Wozniacki.
Unfortunately, Justine Henin, who is tied for No. 10 ranking in tennis with Kim Clijster, will be unable to compete in the 2010 US Open due to injuring her right elbow after taking a fall at Wimbledon. Henin has made it to three US Open Finals and has two wins; in 2003, she defeated Kim Clijsters and in 2007 she defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova.
Margaret Court was in three US Open Finals and won all three! Her first US Open win was in 1969 when she defeated Nancy Richey, in 1970 she defeated Rosemary Casals and in 1974 by defeating Evonne Goolagong Cawley. Evonne Goolagong made it to four US Open Finals but has had no wins.
Venus Williams made it to four US Open Finals and two wins; in 2000 by defeating Lindsay Davenport and in 2001, Venus defended her championship by defeating her own sister, Serena. Monica Seles, who is tied with Venus for the No. 6 ranking in tennis, has made it to four US Open Finals and has two wins; in 1991 she defeated Martina Navratilova and in 1992, she repeated her winning by defeating Arantxa Sanchez Vicario.
There is Only 2 Weeks Left to Complete the New York Mortgage License Test Requirements
Loan originator’s taking the New York mortgage license test will need to complete 20 hours of the Nationwide Mortgage Lending Service (NMLS) approved education, which includes 3 hours of New York mortgage law, pass both the National and New York Components of the SAFE mortgage Loan Originator test and meet new bonding requirements, meaning a credit check and criminal background check and fingerprinting.
To facilitate an orderly transition to licensing and minimize the disruption in the mortgage marketplace, the deadlines to complete the education, testing and bonding requirements are:
o An individual who was engaged in Mortgage Loan Origination (MLO) activities as of July 11, 2009, and filed an application prior to July 11, 2009, had until May 31, 2010 to meet the education, testing and bonding requirement.
o An individual who was engaged in MLO activities with respect to manufactured homes as of July 11, 2009, should have filed an application by the Superintendent on December 31, 2009, and should have met the education, testing and bonding requirements back on May 31, 2010.
o An individual who was authorized to act as an MLO as of July 11, 2009 has until August 31, 2010 to meet the education, testing and bonding requirements.
There’s only 2 weeks left to fit in 20 hours of education, testing and bonding requirements. The best advice to give un-licensed loan originators is to GET ON IT!
There’s more to Developing an App for the Ipad Than Meets the Eye
Ipad apps development specialists are creating applications specifically for the iPad that makes use of its large 9.7″ screen. Apple has released a software development toolkit that developers can use to create applications. For entrepreneurs who do not possess software development skills, there are iPad app developers for hire . The entrepreneurs can still have applications developed for the new iPad tablet by hiring a company to do the work for them. In order for the process to be done efficiently and in a cost effective manner, it’s important to hire a reputable and talented company, one that will manage the entire iPad application development from start to finish.
It also important that any business or entrepreneur know that there is a great deal of competition in the App Store; there are hundreds of thousands of apps for sale. It will be necessary to have a full-scale and aggressive marketing campaign once the app has been developed and approved by Apple to be placed in the Apps Store. The marketing campaign should include as many social networking sites like Facebook , You Tube and any other source with which sophisticated iPad users will become aware that there is a new application that will make their use of the iPad that much easier.
Any iPad Apps development needs to have a sound approach and should include offering incentives such as the new App is available in a light or condensed version which is free. This is about the only way to drive prospective users to the App and create buzz online. Pricing a full version should be done with care, because a majority of quality applications only cost a few dollars. It’s not wise to overprice an App, it will only mean less sales or no sales. It’s better to have a cheap App that is similar to an expensive one.
Romans, Cowboys, and Steam Showers
There is an old cliche in Western films about a cowboy, sometime in the 1880s, who has come to town to take a bath at the local hotel and saloon. Proudly, he’ll claim that he takes a bath once a year, whether he needs it or not.
There are a number of variations of this joke, where the cowboy takes different amounts of time — sometimes it’s a week between baths, or only months — but the humor comes from the same idea: People in modern society, accustomed to daily bathing, find it funny that anyone would think that going so long between bathings was healthy or desirable, while the cowboy thought he was doing well to get a bath in as often as he did.
While the Greeks and Romans developed the idea of bathing in steamy, thermal springs to an art, the religiously devout of the Middle Ages felt that cleanliness was anything but next to godliness. In those times, bathing was frowned upon, because to do so meant you were paying more attention to the flesh than to the spiritual worship of God. They also felt the dirt protected them from the various illnesses in the era.
Fortunately, clearer and cleaner heads prevailed, and, as indoor plumbing improved, baths became popular everywhere. Eventually, the shower became even more popular, expanding to various types, including steam showers , that allow people today to experience the sauna-like atmosphere that has been enjoyed by people for centuries.
Albany Has Jack
Albany, New York’s state capital touts one of New York’s best restaurants, Jack’s Oyster House. Not far from the capital building and within walking distance of most of the better hotels Albany offers its thousands of visitors each week.
Jack’s is a venerable, old-school seafood and chop house that was established during the early 20th century. It still remains vibrant, unique and not corporate owned. The exterior and its old-fashioned signage will automatically draw you inside. Once inside you’ll realize you stumbled into one of the city’s most beloved dining establishments and is not only the favorite of the capitol’s politicians who frequent Jack’s for lunch, but for their lobbyist as well. A special table is reserved for the Governor for when he stops in, which is often.
Business people, professionals, tourists, and locals all patronage Jack’s, keeping the place all a buzz for lunch and for dinner. Tables are packed with groups of friends, families, politicians and colleagues all out for a great meal, a celebration or for a great night of fun.
Surprisingly, the menu features an extensive raw bar, but they also have a huge selection of grilled and baked seafood, steaks and pork chops. Jack is definitely known for its Surf-n-Turf for its dinner entrees, but for lunch, they offer a lighter fare consisting of a variety of sandwiches, salads and pastas.
Chef Luc Pasquier came on board over 2 years ago and his menu expanded to include a more contemporary cuisine, but still keeps it rooted in the classic American dishes that makes everyone return again and again.
